About Marina R Vladis
Marina R Vladis was born in Odessa Ukraine, a beautiful sea town with many famous people and history, she loved her homeland and was sad to leave behind her family and friends. Because of political atmosphere in 1978 at the age of twelve her family decided to immigrate to US. The journey lasted many months before finally settling in New York. Living abroad at a young age in a beautiful countries Vienna and Italy, being in the center of the extraordinary arts, architecture, and worlds best museums she developed sense of taste for style. In recent years the emotions exploded and the brush was applied to the canvas in her words she expresses the meaning ~
"Painting is silent Poetry, and poetry painting that speaks." Attributed to Simonides by Plutarch in his De Gloria Atheniensium, III, 346
"Versatility is the key to my paintings, I give thought to the 'viewer' as I paint, not trying to paint every detail, but trying to awaken the imagination of a human mind. I always leave something undone so the 'viewer' not only looks, but becomes involved in the creative process. The images, symbols, and compositions that stem from personal, social, political realities are often a foil to assist in the realization of feelings generated by that evasive notion." Movement, Colors, Shapes, Pattern, Line, and Texture - these are some of the elements of art that I find exciting. I paint for sheer joy- the passion of it. Images taken from every day life are translated into visual descriptions on the canvas with challenges of working out relationship between the elements into successful composition. Creating, communicating, experimenting and placing oneself into the work, by putting paint to the surface with emotion, is the connection for me."
